More Hurrahs For our Public Libraries
More thoughts on using your local public library:
I've been using some 4"x6" cards as handouts at my demos. Usually I just have a stack of them, but I wanted a card holder. Well, I couldn't find what I needed online, but then I had an inspiration: My local public library has a 3D printer! Why don’t I just make one?
I found a designer to quickly draw up an .stl file for what I needed (cost me all of $50; I can share his info if anyone wants anything similar). A simple box, with a sloping bottom to make the cards easier to take. I sent the file to my county public library, and they were able to print it for me. (Hats off to Mike K. for his efforts on my behalf!) Total cost to print: about $6.
Check out the pics! The cards fit perfectly, it’s bottom-heavy so it doesn’t tip over easily even when folks take a card or two, and I’m looking for the right way to put the company logo on it!
So check out your local public libraries and see what else they can do for you besides find the right book! And EAT MORE BBQ!
